Two days ago I was working and I was so bored, then a friend said to me… hey, you’ve got to see “teleback003”, - what does it mean? – just do it!. Then when I did I watched the best comic film I’ve never seen. Have you ever heard about Batman? Yes, the same old Batman, who is so boring!, but if you see the new Batman film, you’ll realize how good it is.

The new batman film is call “Batman the dark knight”, and it is very good! It is not like those typical superheroes films where every superhero is hit and then he gets a little angry and he is capable of killing everybody. With this film you`re not going to see this any more.

In this film the bad guy is played by Heath Ledger, he is the Joker and he is an insane sicopat guy, he does not care about money, he does not care about killing people and he does not care about anything, he does exactly what he wants to do and he is capable of killing who ever gets on his way.

When I watched this film the actor I liked most it was Heath Ledger, his acting as the jocker was the best I`ve seen, even better than the Jacknicolson acting. I thought it was great...!!

Oh! I think I have got a lot of favourite pieces of technology. A few years ago, when I was an adolescent, I was always playing Nintento all the time, I loved it, one time I was waiting for Christmas and when Christmas eave arrived my parents had a great gift for me, they gave me my first Nintendo, then the supernintendo came to the market. I don’t know why but when I’m thinking about Nintendo I may remember good regards. In the end of the nineties was release for sale the Nintendo64, I remember that one time I played two days on-the-run. The N64 was incredible and it had an amazing graphics level. Years later I realized that to buy video consoles it was a stupid thing because it’s much better to buy a good personal computer, then the PC became my favourite piece of technology, I could do everything I wanted, Internet, to watch movies, to play video games and so on. Now I use my PC for college work, but when I have free time I can share information with friends or I can watch a good film with my girlfriend. That’s all for me. Well, I tried not to make mistakes…. Guud vay!!!

That’s a really good topic, I’ve always wanted to talk about this because I love travelling, if I could I will spend the rest of my life travelling around the world, when I was a child I’ve always wanted to be an astronaut, you know! To be walking on planets and seeing new astonish things and all those things. Oh! , Going back with the topic I might say that a good place to visit must be cities like New York, Tokyo and London, but there are others countries where you can have a good time.

Unlike, most of people think, I would never like to visit the united stated of America, I like their culture, but I’m afraid with things like the guns possession and the violence on the streets.

If there is some country I would like visiting; it might be England o Scotland, I would like going to Australia too because I’ve herd a lot of good things about this country. I know very well Latin American but I don’t now some northern countries like Mexico, Colombia or Panama.

I’m planning my next travel and I don’t know where I will go, but I’m absolutely sure that it will a very good journey

field trip

Yeah, that’s a good topic, where I start to think about a “field trip” a lot of things spring to my mind, my best regards are about my “Boy scout life”, those were good times because I used to go out with my friends, looking for adventures and things to do. I remember when I was fifteen; I went to Chiloe’s Island whit my friends, we were camping in the northern side of the island, we had a lot of rain but with two or three days on the island you get used to it.

We were doing a lot of thing, we made pork barbecue and we were walking around the island. One day we did a particular city game, we were visiting to different places like the main squares and parks or nice places to have a dinner. We spent our time doing everything we could. We were enjoying as it were the last moment of our entire life.

Wow, I've got many favourites movies, so I am going to talk about the most important movies to me, first I will start doing comment about a film I watched two or three weeks ago, have you ever heard about "the usual suspects"? uuuyyy it' so good, that's one of the best movies I've never watched!!! All time you can see action, bullets for everywhere, people dying and bleeding in the middle of the street and something like that. Everybody ought to watch this movie, when you know to Kaiser Soza, the great myth of this movie you're going to go crazy, he is able to kill his own family and he does not problem with that.

Now, I'm going to talk about an old film, I don't really know very much about this film but when I watched I liked a lot. I hope you know "Young Frankenstein", that's a very good film, It's about a scientist guy and he is the Frankenstein's grandson, but he does not feel good being the Frankenstein's grandson because there are many people who think that in the Frankenstein's family everybody is insane. The actor who is playing the leading role in the film is great; he is called Gene Wilder and he is so so so funny!!

When Simon told us that we had to do homework about a “trip situation” I didn’t know what I could say about it. Well, I don’t want to talk about a trip from home to get college because it’s boring and when I think about this kind of trip I get bored by it.

Now, I’m going to tell you a great story about a “great trip”. Last summer I went across/I crossed The Andes and I went to Mendoza, when I got there I started to prepare my trip to Bolivia and my intention was get to La Paz. I knew there are thousands kilometres between Mendoza and La Paz, but that did not matter to me/ but that wasn't a big deal for me because I had fifty days to do it.

Now, when I got to La Paz I spent some days there with my girlfriend, she was my “road trip partner”. So, when I wished some action, she was there to give it to me… jajaja. Then, we went to The Sun Island and when we got there we spent wonderful days. We stayed in the southern side of the island and then we went to northern side.

When we were about to leave the northern side of the island, I talked with two or may be three Bolivians peasant and everyone said to me- relax my friend!! It will take you between five to six hours to cross the island!!! I believed them! So, when we were on our way we saw the most beautiful landscapes we've ever seen, it was amazing!! When we were halfway we saw a Chilean friend, we’d met in the southern side of the island and we met again in the middle of nowhere!!! So, in that moment he said to me- hey! Do you want something to smoke? – And I asked him… well; show me what you’ve got!! I may not say what we smoked exactly, but you know what I mean.

After we smoked “something”, we decided to go on with our trip, when the night was getting closer we realized that “the five to six hours” was a bullshit (Bolivian peasant declaration!!), we've been walking for about ten hours and we didn’t find any place to spend the night. When the dark fell to us, we started to become exasperated… we were lost!! So, my nice girlfriend started to shout me and she said to me that everything was my fault! She said to me "I hate you"... I tried to calm her down but I could not do it.

At least, after 12 hours walking and screaming for help, we found the nearest town… I’ve gotta confess, I thought I could die...

What do Fiestas Patrias mean to you?

I don’t have it very clear; I think I am not a nationalist person and when I hear some about our national holidays I don’t think in Chile but I think about how I am going to have a really good time with my friends or may be with my girlfriend, too.

What typical Chileans do

We have lots of typical activities. My favourite national activity is having an “asado”; this is like a “Chilean barbecue” if you life. In Chile when we take a grill and we start to cook meal upon it then you can realize that a fraternity air is turning around. When you are in a “Asado Chileno” you can share with good people and you can have a really good time and drink a lot.

What you did as a child

Wow, when I was a child I used to go out with my father and we fly kites together whole day, I loved do it very much.

What you do nowadays

I think this 18 will be the best 18 in my entire life; I am going to go to many parties, I am going to drink and eat a lot and I am going to share a good time with my friends and my girlfriend.

Which was your favourite 18 and why.

The latest 18 was my favourite and I am sure about that; I remember when I was waiting for my Italian girlfriend get to Santiago, I was so excited and when I saw her I hugged her and I kiss her. It was a really good time.

When I read about this post I was tearing my hair out because this pc is so slow. Well, in five years later I don’t know what I’m going to be doing. Now I am trying to finish my college studies, I hope have done my studies next year and then I want to travel, I want to make trips with my girlfriend to everywhere, every year. I want to enjoy my life. Well I also have other plans in my life. Sometimes I wish I’d taken more time for myself, I regret it. I have got many classmates and they took time for themselves before they got in to college.

Actually, a new idea suddenly occurred to me. I want to buy a dep. I wish I can save money and with this money I'm going to pay a dept, I hope it will be done. In the next two or three years I want to go to some country where English is spoken. I think that is a good idea to improve my English, when I thought about moving abroad I thought about the Falkland Islands, a I have a cousin and she went to Falkland Islands, she told me “the islands are amazing, you should know them”

Well, good topic. I started with my English studies when I was child, I remember my first English lesson like it was yesterday. I had my first English lesson at “Colegio Chile” when I was 5.

Really, when I was a child I never thought to learn another language was so important. I wish I had realized how important learning English is for my future jobs or something like that. In Chilean’s schools we were attending to English lessons since we were five or six years old, but although it seems incredible most of the Chilean’s students can’t have a conversation when they finish their English lessons.

Why is happening what I wrote here? I think that it’s because all the educative system is bad and if you want to get a good education you’ve got to pay more money. Well, getting back to our topic, I think that when a person speaks English or another language they stand out when they are talking and everybody wants to talk with them.

Really, I love learn English, but what do I find difficult? The most difficult to me is English grammar and it’s not because it’s difficult itself but because it’s different. Well, at least there are free web sites like The BBC’s website, I found this web site when Simon showed us in a earlier English lessons, and when I went to The BBC’s website I discovered a new world!!! Well, to finish I like this web site because it is has good things to learn.

Have I got any English speaking friends? Yes, when I was living in Buenos Aires I had an English friend, he lived with me and he taught English in the University of Buenos Aires.

Well, my name is Ricardo Paulsen. I was born in Santiago de Chile; here in my country our culture is like any other western culture on the world. I think that the culture I grew up is very good and I’d like living it every day.

My family is quite normal; I live with my parents and my brother. My father has worked in a security company for as long as I remember. My mother is a housewife; my parents got married when they were twenty-two years old. My brother is called Juan Pablo, he is studying at the high school, and he’s 15 years old.

Well, What do I like to do in my free time? I like travel; every year I save all money I can. When I have enough money I always draw up my holidays with someone else. Last summer I took my bag and I went to Mendoza city, in Argentina. From this city I was visiting every cities I could. Three weeks later I got to Bolivia, I was in “La Quiaca” one day and then I went to La Paz city.

I finished high school when I was 18, then I got in to the college. I decided to study geography because I have a special interest about the urban problems.

What I liked?

The blog activity has been very interesting. I’ve never made an activity like this in others English lessons. By the way I remember about my school time, the most of us had English lessons since “kinder garden” and almost everybody didn’t know very much about English. Really, it is so incredible to think that we studied English about thirteen year in the school and a lot of us could not keep a simple conversation before to take the Simon’s English lessons. Go back to the question, I liked to have the opportunity of read my classmates’ post and see what they have written. So, the blog gives us the opportunity of communicate us each other, this must be exploited because add this new tecnologies is very important to get new knowledge.

What I didn’t like?

I didn’t like the George lessons, not by George but what we had to do in this lesson. In my opinion, we’ve got to practice conversations between us. We need somebody who take us and make us talk each other. I think that in the next semester we should put special attention in practice conversations, this we could do it with videos and practicing dialogues.

What helped me learn English?

A lot of thing, but the most important thing to me was the Monday’s lessons because we had the opportunity of listen to Simon. As I said earlier in another post we should practice conversation because if we are be able to keep a conversation we will be able to take control when we want to say some idea.

The post that I liked least…

I think there was not a post that I liked least; each post had a something funny. But if I’d have to choose I’d choose “Why, Why, Why”, because was the funniest and this post gave us the opportunity to know each other.

Really, I don’t know which the best blog is, but I know that my classmates gave the best of them doing their blogs. If I’d have to choose I’d choose my blog, because I think that is the most interesting and complete.

Why are you studying Geography? / Why did you decide to study Geography?

Before entering to the college I didn’t know very much what I wanted to study, when I was an adolescent we were always made the same question along time until I left the high school. The last year in the high school was terrible, because we always had somebody who was saying us what we had to do. I had good classmates in this time. I also remember that I belonged to special group called the “chichas team", that it is like say a “drinkers team”. Well, what was the question? Why am I studying geography? I am studying geography mostly because I think that the territorial problems are very interesting and the normal people don’t know very much about this. I like the urban problems, too, I love the city and its ways to live it, if I’ve got a great dream, undoubtedly is to know everyone cities around the world.

What will you be doing (professionally) in 10 years time?

This is the hardest question that anyone has made me. Really I don’t know it very clearly, but I’ see me travelling around the world, I have always thought that the best geographer is the one who knows more, it is by I want to know everything I can. So, I think that in teen years I am going to be working outside the country, I don’t know where but it doesn’t matter of any way, because the important is be “outside”, knowing…

How can geographers help save the planet?

This is a children question. Who do want to save the world? We are not superheroes and I won’t try to be one of them. We live in a neoliberal world and everyone have their business, every person takes care about his problems. If we want to save the world, we must be able to change the way the people think, we must build a collective conscience that protect us of the human evil.

What tools will the geographer of the future need to have?

First, we need to learn English very well, if you can’t understand anything about English and you want to go outside the continent; you are dead because you won’t be able to talk with anybody.

Other important tool are the GIS, if you aren’t able to take a computer and use software like ArcGIS or Erdas, you are a dead man, too. Both things are linked very strong and if you cannot drive you remained in the past.

What is your favourite subject?

I think that my favourite subject is the urbanism because as I said earlier I love the city. In relation to urbanism I could say that my favourite subject is the gentrification process. This urban process began in England, specifically in London city. In Chile this urban process has begun slowly to appear on the urban spaces of our cities, getting an important increase since 80’s until now.

My favorite place in Chile is...

My favorite place in Chile is the Chiloe Island, when I was 15 I went to the island with my scout group. First, we arrived to Puerto montt city. In this place we got on to a ship and We traveled through the sea, it was beautiful see the “wolf sea” swimming so close us. Our first step was Ancud, a little city a few kilometers of the island capital, Castro. Once in the island, we did scout games and we walked the island visiting every place we could.

I remember the travel like if it was yesterday; I did lots of funny things in that time. Before I leave the island I felt something special, like special attraction with that so beautiful landscape. I also remember when we ate the delicious pig flesh with my friends, but the bad thing was I could hear the cries when the pig was killed.

Really, I don’t know when I heard this song for first time, I think that could be two or three years ago.

I have asked myself why I love this song so much, I think that could be because this is a “love song”. Really I don’t like “the love songs” so much , but this song have something special to me.

I’ve always dreamed of knowing...

I’ve always dreamed of knowing Axel Roses (vocalist of guns and roses). When I was a boy I always saw him while he was doing his spectacular shows. In 1992 he came to Chile with his band, I was 6 years old when he played in National Stadium of Chile.

I should confess that I would like to ask him about his life, his relationships with the ex- playboy girl Sabana, besides his complicated friendly relationship with Slash. I’d like to know what happened with this great band, why did they decide to finish Guns and Roses?.
Now, what’d I like to do with Axel Roses? That is a difficult question. First, I’d go with him to a Cabaret, we would drink together a lot of beer, and we’d take girls for every one of our friends. Then I’d like to smoke something with him, after I’d tell him stories about my life, I’d ask him things about his life.

Axel Rose was always my great idol, I had every one of his albums, and they were not the originals because I could only pay for the bootleg albums. However, thanks to god that there are bootleg albums, if it was not thus, I could never have listened to Guns and Roses.

When I was in a BBC’s web site, first thing that I did it was watch news about Barak Obama and Hillary Clinton. In my country some people like knowing about the next presidential elections because it's considered like a great world event. In interviews they talked about the difficult situation in Iran, It could be that USA’s government has got scared about a possible nuclear war between Iran and Israel. In my opinion everything that the USA's government says is a lie, but always there are some people that believe it.

After that I saw the USA´s elections news, I started reading some Latin-American news, when I was in this site I could not believe it, Colombia’s president ordered the arrest of his cousin over alleged ties to paramilitary groups. So I thought that with a cousin like that, who wants enemies?

To finish, I found a link with my favorite English band, Coldplay. I love this band, I love their songs. So when I get home, I’ll listen something by them.
